What is an Endodontist?
An endodontist is a dental specialist that has completed two or more years of advanced post-doctoral residency training in the specialty of endodontics (root canals and related treatments). All dentists are trained to provide endodontic treatment, but many will refer their patients to endodontists. Endodontists provide only endodontic services because we are specialists. We perform routine as well as difficult and complex endodontic procedures including re-treatments and surgical treatments. Endodontists are also experienced in finding the source of difficult to diagnose oral and facial pain.
Endodontic Root Canal Treatments
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures with well over 14 million performed every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need for dental implants or bridges. For more information on root canal treatment at our Keller TX endodontic office, please visit our root canal page. For answers to questions such as what is a root canal and how long do they last, read our root canal faq page.
Endodontic Root Canal Surgery
Endodontic (root canal) surgery can be used to locate fractures or hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but still manifest pain in the tooth. Damaged root surfaces or the surrounding bone may also be treated with this procedure. The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy or root-end resection.
